Question Promo Video Guidelines

Does anyone place promo videos on your digital signs?
If yes do you have any guidelines for those videos?
I would like to force a 15-30 second limit for video promos and that they will only run every 4-7minutes but some of our staff say that they need 2-3minutes to convey the needed information and they need to run every 2-3 minutes.
I find it pretty annoying for a video to run every few minutes and I think all the details should be short and to the point but I wanted to hear if there were any other ideas out there.

If you can't get the point across in 30 seconds, possibly the point's not very clear.
Just because it's in-house, doesn't cost anything, isn't a reason for lack of clarity in "advertising."

I would say 1 minute max, and that's if you're doing some sort of bit to get the message across. If it's just informational, most people get bored after 30 seconds. Plus it's digital signage, who's going to stand there and just watch for that long?

Giving a time limit will also make the creators think more carefully about what content & information is included, which will probably lead to more effective communication of their message.

Wink Promo Videos...

I think I would kindly explain what a 2-3minute video takes (man power and your payrate). I would also let them know how long people actually stand to look at your digital signage. Then I would ask them if it is more important to spend 10hours on their announcement video for a ministry event attended by a small selection of the congregation or if it would be a better steward of your time and God's money to create videos for the pastor or worship set that would open up people's eyes in a different way to who God is. I think the root of you are really asking is: is it really a worth while use of your time? I say no...

Just as an FYI for you:
We kinda of did a hidden camera thing on our displays and noticed that people only stayed a few seconds if an image caught their attention. Actually we noticed that the longest anyone stayed was around 30 seconds and the average person stayed only 12 seconds. So we said to the asking ministry that we would love to create a slide that described in a sentence or two what their event was and the who, what, when, where (at least two weeks in advance of course...). That if they wanted a video they would have to pay for it out of their ministry budget or event budget, but that it couldn't be longer than 30 seconds.

Let us know how it all goes or if you need any more support...

I absolutely LOVE Hillsong's Creative Brief. I can't tell you how many times I have handed this to someone that approached me with a media request and then I never saw them again.
