IR Control

We are looking at putting up 2 new flat screens in our lobby and was wondering if anyone knew of any IR scheduling software or controllers? Basically I want the TV's to turn on at a scheduled time each day (times will vary) and off. Not sure if there is a computer program or something out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IR send over a wire to an emitter is just an electrical signal. Global Cache makes an ip to ir box. I can do it with some pieces that the company I work for makes. Look for DIY home control solutions. If you can get an ir signal out of the computer, ir distribution blocks can be bought from places like SmartHome.com or ebay.

We use self-aware carbon-based autonomous remote-sensing bipedal actuators. They make physical contact with our display devices first thing each morning, and again at the end of the day. They work like a charm, auto-adjust to daylight savings time and even know not to actuate on days when the offices are closed.

Those are cheaper than my solution, but not always as reliable.

You obviously haven't tried our "Justin" model. Brutally reliable.

Do you have a link for this product lol. I didn't even think of the smart home thing! But that sounds like it would be perfect! Thanks!

you can build IR extenders with about 12 bucks worth of parts. I've got to make one sometime for our projector.

The LG (pro grade?) flat panels we put in the main hallway three years ago have on/off timers built in.
