Yep, I agree - burn in with plasma technology is still a problem. I have a client that wrecked a couple within months only just recently. It all depends on what type of material you view on them. If you have a video (e.g. film) source then you should be OK. If you have any hint of a static picture area you will be faced with problems. For example, the Church logo and name in a set area of the screen will become burnt in. There are some possibilities with some projection kit / monitors to very slowly move the image around the viewing area - however, even with this feature enabled, you still need to be careful.

If you still think that plasma is the way to go; run the type of video source you plan to use past the salesman so if there is a problem in the near term you may have some comeback.

I believe plasma doesn't refresh as quick as LCD but i can't remember off the top of my head.
This isn't exactly true. Here is a short, but good article that explains it.

Only thing is the article didn't bother to compare and say which has less motion blur.

Plasma is fast by nature and LCD is not so this is why LCD has pushed it's refresh higher to deal with this issue. I believe you have to take each device on it's own merit since even manufactures can fudge the numbers. If you where looking at a 1920X1080 set in the 60Hz range then i would go with a plasma if you don't have an over abundance of light. If you are doing some high end gaming or like movies with explosions then you will probably want a higher refresh rate LCD.

Plasmas overcame burn in issues years ago.
I hate to disagree with you on this one, but I work with Digital Signage in my day to day job and I cannot stress this enough.
A plasma will burn. Given time so will a LCD, but a LCD you can generally turn it off and again, given time, will dissipate, but if it's been there too long it WILL stay.

Manufacturers have improved the electronics behind it to prevent burn in, but they still do it. I have seen plasma's from the standard 42" screen right up to 103" screen burnt.

That said I would highly suggest that you use a Panasonic COMMERCIAL screen for digital signage if you want to go plasma. They have a handy screensaver function built in, where you can run a white bar moving across the screen between X hour and Y hour, everyday, weekly etc.

I ended up going with the LCD because I was not impressed with the glare reduction on plasmas. It would not have worked for their situation. I just don't think the technology has arrived yet for plasmas in well lit areas.
