LCD TVs as Signage in High School

I'm currently working on a plan for a new high school to have digital signage installed. I was thinking of using 20 (10 Per Story) 1080p 42" TVs as the main monitors. I would then run component video w/audio from a central station on each story out to the Tvs through a Cat6 or Cat7 cable. We would run the second floor's cable to the bottom floor and have an extron media presentation switcher to switch between the different sources.

Would this work? Have y'all done anything on this scale? Is their anything I need to be aware of?

If it's going over cat cable, why not just run VGA? You'll get a better picture. I've never done anything on this scale - but the first thing that comes to mind is control. How are you planning on controlling the TV's? You need to have TV's that support RS232, and use a product from extron or whoever to turn the TV's on and off. There are lots of digital signage products that will run VGA, Audio, and RS232 over a cat5 to the TV. I'm familiar with the Minicom DS Vision 300 and it works pretty well. We don't use it for the RS232, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't work well. I'm sure extron has a great product for this application as well, but I'm not as familiar with their line.
