Opinions on this camera?

I just ordered a Fujifilm FinePix S700 And I was wondering if anyone has this camera or has any opinions on it. I researched it and really couldn't find a single bad review but the only review that really matters to me is that of my fellow CMNers!

I have a FinePix s5200 and it's been a good camera. My wife loves it for it's auto features and i love it cause i can force it into manual. I'm not going to lie and say it's a great camera because i'm not really a fan of many consumer cameras but i can definitely say it leads the field in consumer cameras. I have a feeling you will get a lot of good use out of it.

Considering my last camera was a 1 MegaPixel HP Photosmart camera I think I'll be pretty happy with this one.

Can I buy any type of 46mm filters or lenses for this camera or do they have to be fujifilm brand?

Leann,

I was just looking at this very same camera to purchase as a smaller camera to take on mission trips and vacations as opposed to my Nikon D50 & D80 and all the lenses that I have for the both of them.

There's a site that I'm a member of that has some great info/reviews on all sorts of cameras. DPReview. I linked you right to the S700 review page.

Thanks for that link. I see the reviews are kind of mixed but I'm still confident that I made the right decision. My first instinct was to get one of the cheaper 'pocket size' cameras but my husband talked me into getting a better one. I really just want 'point and shoot' for family and website stuff but I like the fact that there are some manual settings. Most of which I'll probably never use but it's nice to know they are there just in case.

Yeah, I'm actually trying to make the final decision on the Fuji or the Kodak Z812. Both have very good features, so I'm still in the undecided column.

I have an older fuji finepix and it was a fine little camera. Not in the same league as my DSLR's but it did nice work, was easy to use and it's held up well so it's a "loaner" today.
As far as filters, they need only have the right thread to screw on the front of the camera.

I got that camera (S700) for Christmas and I love it. I'm just getting to know it and finding out what it can do, but I've taken some nice pics with it.

I settled on the Fuji S700. It's a bit different than my Prosumer D50 & D80 but it's a great camera IMO. I love that it shoots in b/w and has controls for being able to shoot macro shots as well. Also, doesn't take up as much space so easier to grab and run when on mission and youth trips.

I got mine a few days ago and I love it! I can take great pictures with the auto setting (haven't been brave enough to mess with the manual settings yet). But so far it's great! The video quality is even better than you would expect from a digital camera.
