Clip of spoken word on the web

We are wanting to make a promo video that we are going to post on our website and the church direction stems around a prophesy that was given by an individual at a different church and we want to take small portions of the prophesy and interweave it into our video. This prophesy is up on the other churches website and is on vimeo as well. Just curious if we can do this legally or not. Or could we just use the voice and not the video. We are really hoping to use it if at all possible. Thanks for the help.

Simplest solution would seem to be ask the other church for permission.

I am pretty new to copyrights and permissions does this need to be in a written form or can it be through email oh what format does the permission need to be obtained in?

You want it in written form. "He said, she said" never plays well in court.

I figured as much but I wasn't sure if it needed to be in a certain form or if it could be through email or if it needed to be signed or what. I am in the process of contacting them for permission.

Definitely get permission for any work that you did not create.
