Drive-In Movie Need some info regarding our Church and doing a drive in movie type thing. We want to show the move "To Save A Life" on a somewhat big screen (im sure the size does matter) and put it on our roof so people can drive into the parking lot and watch it. For Audio we would use speakers, since we cant use AM or FM for some reason. so what are the copyright issues on this....what needs to be done?

You can get that movie at http://www.outreach.com/films/Church...ife-13238.aspx

You always need a license for a public performance of a copyrighted film. The CVLI license will cover a wide variety of films from an extensive list of producers: http://www.cvli.com/producers/total-package/ According to Yahoo Movies, the production companies for "To Save a Life" are New Song Pictures and Accelerated Entertainment, which don't appear to be on the list. You should definitely check with CVLI for certain that make certain that it is covered. You should also check the provisions of the license, which have some restrictions on how you promote the showing. Regardless, the CVLI license is a great service and you will probably find many applications for it, particularly if you have day care. Another option would be to use PermissionsPlus to get permission for just that one showing, but I would only recommend that if the film is not covered by CVLI. http://www.copyrightsolver.com/PermissionsPlus.aspx

The CVLI Terms and Conditions reference the facilities identified in the application, authorized viewers and limiting the audience. Would the fact that this would apparently be outdoors and thus may potentially represent limited control over the viewers or that it may be viewed or heard beyond the church property be a potential factor? People often don't think about things like someone driving down an adjacent road only to find their vision impaired by the projector operation, so consider how you will address such issues. You may also want to check local ordinances as far as the related light, noise, etc., if nothing else you may need to get a Special Events permit.
