radio copyright question

Our church is looking into doing a music radio show on our local radio station. It will be Christian country type music. My question is what licensing will we need to get to be legal doing this? Also we have been doing our pastors sermon on the same station. From what i have read on the forum this is legal being that it is our original work. but am i right in saying that?

First for the sermon-as long as you're not including any non-original music in the broadcast, you're fine. Meaning either no music at all, out of copyright classics performed live by your own worship team, or original music written and performed by your own worship team all would be fine.

As for the radio station music broadcast-it depends on the station. They could be on the hook for the licensing, but better minds will have to pipe in on that. If you talk with the station and they're good with it, you should be fine-but you might want to check with the sources for your music-they might also be able to clear it up for you.

One thing-make sure to log every song you play, no matter how long you play it. Use original sources only.

thank you for your response i thought that was the deal with the sermon thanks for clearing that up. and me or the pastor will contact the radio station and see what they say. thanks for the help and i will let ya'll know what they say.
