Photographer's Rights/Copyright Issues

for fair use in stills and videos, model releases, etc...

http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2007/01...hotos_not.html

this one has some nice links on it too...sometimes a bit confrontational on some of the links, which we'd likely not want to do, but still gives you a great idea of the whens and whys...

and http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm

gives some specific info. Note that their may be additional restrictions on bridges/airports now, due to security issues.

There are, for sure. Having an International airport on the border of the US, the El Paso Airport is very strict (after 9/11 there were big dudes with M16s all over the airport). Someone took a picture of someone else with the initial ticket checking station behind them, and they had to give up their film.

Another thing to be concerned about would be federal buildings. A couple of years ago there was an issue with a photographer taking photos in downtown Akron, Ohio, and when taking them near the local Federal Building, was taken into the basement of the building and questioned for several hours. Was a big controversy here at the time over the way the guy was treated and his rights violated.

Some things are security issues, some are privacy and some are copyright.
... but I mostly object to the people who will not allow photos to be taken in a public place because there is now a 'fee'.
