Church room reservation

I am currently in charge of implementing a component that would allow church leaders to book rooms in advance, sort of like a room reservation component. Our website is running on Joomla 1.0.15, which I am pretty new.
Our web site already implement JEvents but as the Admin I have to enter the events on back end myself. The goal of this component is to allow specific users to book rooms (by clicking check boxes or something else) from the browser and saving their edits which would be reflected on a public room reservation page.

Is there a component I can use or what would be the best way to go about it..

Not sure on 1.0.15 because I'm running 1.5.15 but JEvents should be able to let you add user as event admins and they can add through the front end. Rooms could be set up as 'locations' and your events assigned to those 'Rooms/Locations'.

A lot of this will be determined if you have a budget for anything. There are components out there. But....

JEvents 1.5 gives you a lot more versatility like user levels and a simple event registration. But you will need to update to Joomla 1.5 in order to use it. We don't use it for room reservation because we need to request how the room is setup as well but we do use JEvents in combination with DTRegister for class and event sign-up.
