CMS Theme Section in MXC?

I have been developing some themes for use by some of the churches I work for and was wondering if you all thought it would be beneficial to add a CMS themes section to the MXC?

Is this a good idea? Would we have to offer support on those themes or merely add the caveat that they are "as is" themes and we don't offer support.

Is anyone else actively developing themes? If so, would anyone else be willing to contribute their themes?

I am not creating themes at the moment but would love to start. And I may be inspired by other's themes so YES I think a themes section would be great. I don't think you'd have to offer support for the themes unless the creator specifically says 'email me if you have problems'.

The reason I thought of it initially was because someone got to CMN because they searched for Free drupal church theme

I agree. I've been toying around with WP themes and wouldn't mind sharing what I come up with.

Do you think .zip files would be the best way to go? Those can already be uploaded to the MXC.

Yeah, .zip would be the best, because there tend to be a number of files involved, and if necessary, .zip files can contain a directory structure.

Almost a year later...I'll throw my 2 bits in.

I've kind of inherited everything tech related at my church, live sound, sermon recording/editing, video, website, ...everything. I've gotten up to speed on sound, I've found a few people to help run video, and now I have to deal with designing a new website too.

I have zero background in web design or programming. our current website was built by a high school senior as a project for a programming class at school. He did a fine job with basic html, but it's time to make it simpler for normal people (like me) to maintain. (and better looking, and more functional)

So now i'm faced with 1. throwing up a basic template from wordpress or similar ...or 2. learning how to build a site from scratch.

I don't look forward to building it myself. I love to learn new things, but it's lunacy for me to attempt to create a "good" site when others (far smarter and more experienced than myself) could do a better job in 2 hours than I could in 3 months.

So bottom line is, I would absolutely LOVE to hook up with some kind people here to find a way to make a site for my little church that works, and presents a good face to my community.

I haven't looked around the forums to see if you've implemented this idea, but I really, really, would be glad if you did/do.

thanks
