I would seriously try removing all of the DC functionality and starting over again using the site I mentioned above.

If worse comes to worst you may need to re-format. I know it's time-consuming but if the DC doesn't work it may ultimately be your only option.

How close is Woodstock to Brampton? I'm tied up for at least another week but we may be able to get together in two weeks or so if you're still having issues. I'm no DC expert but two heads... you know.

Remove the PC from Active Directory, place the PC in a Workgroup.

Rejoin the domain.
If that fails, get yourself a Fluke tester and check the cables.

I've tested all the cables and the NIC's. They work fine.

I took the server and the workstation and put them on their own hub (I tested the hub too, and it works) So now I just have the server and the workstation all by themselves connected to a hub with nothing else. I configured the DHCP service on the server and it's running. It is set to distribute 192.168 IP addresses. I configured the workstation to aquire IP and DNS automaticly.

I deleted the workstation from active directory and rebooted the server and the workstation.

When I do an ipconfig on the workstation, the ip address isn't 192.168 it's 192.something_different. It's not getting an IP from the server at all.

I am, however, able to log on to the server with the username and password of one of my domain user accounts, so at least that works.

I checked all the items listed on the perti site link and they're all configured properly. Maybe I need to uninstall/reinstall DNS, DHCP, and WINS from the server and start again.

Shaun, Woodstock is about an hour west of Brampton. We're on the 401 between Kitchener and London. I've got a guy here helping me, but I'll keep your offer in mind. thanks! I appreciate your help.

I turned off the Windows firewall on the server and suddenly I was able to log on to the domain from the workstation with no problems.

...I guess that was the problem all along - the windows firewall on the server had to be turned off.

Go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Turn her back on, but uncheck the "Don't Allow Exceptions" checkbox
