monitor question

I see a lot of the new monitors have
both DVI and VGA ports on the monitor.

Can you use both and switch between computer 1 and 2..??

On many of them, yes. They have a button to switch between input 1 and input 2.

The key is to find a monitor that will "remember" which input was used last. We have a monitor in one of our booths that shows a PC via it's DVI input and a DVD output from a video scaler via it's VGA input and the monitor fails to remember that it should be showing the DVI. I think some of the problem is in the order of how things are powered up in our case. The scaler is powered on before the PC boots.

Yes, very handy in keeping the clutter down.

You can also buy inexpensive 2 port - KVM's (keyboard, video, mouse) switcher's for ~$20+. Lookup IOGEAR's MiniView Micro KVM Switch GCS62 for an example. I prefer the simple hardware solution rather than plugging two cables into the same monitor. Bill
