I was very interested in the part about using the clearcoms through the Sony CCU's. Currently we run 2 cables- One for the camera and one for the headset which seems ridiculous being that the Sony is already wired for its internal intercom system and it also has an on-board mic system. I once tried using a headset directly through the mic jacks on the CCU and camera but apparently its not a straight through 3 pin connection.

For adding comms to Sony CCUs, depending on your cabling (if you use the 15-pin plugs, as opposed to, say, triax), it's also possible to splice a Clearcom pack into the cable by building your own breakout box at the camera end. Sony seem to have a weird history of comms plugs for their cameras...

We are using headsets similar to what people use sometimes for Skype (covers both ears and has a boom mic) I have not poked behind the control boards to see how they are powered but there is a Radio Shack project box by each of two cameras to plus the two cords into. Just there can be quite a bit of static sometimes
