Did someone say a Digital Juice tour? That combination could make me consider the 21 hour drive. Don't take this personally Kbob, I'm one of those who thinks a couple trips to Disney town has already been way too much for one lifetime. But a stop on the way to the beach? hmmm...

These ideas are on the right track - having lots of media learning opportunities to warrant the trip. Campus Crusade especially - the Jesus Film - do they do their language translations here? Of great personal interest! (I have even checked into volunteer ops, I don't qualify since I'm not a guy.)

Like throw sample DVDs out to the crowd?

I have to admit, I'm generally not a big one for side trips. Of course, being in the American Girl Band ties up a lot of time during the convention and by the time the week is over, I'm ready for some down time.

When you get to Orlando go West-Southwest about 9141 miles (14711 km)

Huh -- I knew they would have to move eventually. There's not much in Ocala and we were always traveling to Orlando for stuff. Actually -- Dave, Laura and Kevin were living in INDIA (yeah, the country) and operating out of there the last I knew. I don't know if they are still there or not.

Sounds like fun...

Orlando was where I met Tim... 2001, I think, though I had been around CMN before that.

Tim taught me how to turn the on-screen menu off on my churches VCR.

Great memories

see lucas, if you visited orlando this year following the convention, you could probably drop in on them, if you asked really nicely...lol

just a little nudge.

Yeah, I'd think having something to do pre/post convention, and maybe one short day with a night time tour would be great. The Wycliff and Campus Crusade complexes are near one another, for example. Strang communications (magazine publishers) and DJ are both north of town, the two tv stations and the radio station are all reasonably proximate to the Interstate, as is FBC and Calvary Assembly (there are at least two or three other mega's in town, but both are much less accessible-though one might fit in with a DJ/Strang trip, depending on the day and their availability).

Actually... in the "real world" people plan conventions 2 or more years in advance. I've known Orlando was our 2009 location for a couple of years. We have to put together preliminary plans earlier than normal because of partnering with TFWM -- and they'll be at InfoComm this June to talk to the IC people about it. But in reality, we should plan this far ahead every year.

I'll be down that way in August (yeah, I know, hottest month of the year) but my daughter wants to take the baby cause she's waiting for a new liver and doesn't know what kind of shape she'll be in next year. We had an offer of a huge discount (like almost free) house to stay in but it was cheaper to get a package deal and stay right in the park (go figure). I am going to make time for a visit with my CMN buddies while I'm there - even if it's just to hit the Cold Stone one night and hang out. My son-in-law is planning on getting together with some of his model railroad buddies too. I'm hopeing that we'll catch a break on the weather but I'm not counting on it.

Maybe I can make that one (and take the girls to Disney, too). That would be nice. BTW, church media is a small world. The guy that I replaced at Asbury because he was going to Ginghamsburg to replace Len now works (as of last year at least) at Digital Juice. I'd love to see DJ even if it's just a server farm.
