[CONVENTION 2008] CMN Band (American Girl Band IV)

CONVENTION NEWS

I'm going to put David Delgado in charge of the American Girl Band this year. Of course I haven't asked him yet... details, details. I'm going to contact Larry Holt and see if he can make it, by chance. He and David work great together. Here is the lineup so far:

Acoustic Guitar - David Delgado
Bass - Mark Finley
Electric Guitar - NEEDED
Keyboard - NEEDED (I'll try to play a couple of times for fun)
Drums - NEEDED
Vocals - David, Joel, OTHERS NEEDED

Post here or PM David Delgado if you are interested. You will need to be at the convention a day early (June 23) to rehearse.

It would be really nice to have some female members for a change, particularly vocals.

BTW, my wife also plays keyboard if needed. She's no superstar, but she knows the keyboard we use at the church and can sing at the same time

The first year, at CMN I, the room they let us use to practice the night before had a sign up from the group that had used the room that day.

Yep, it was an American Girl get together.

Someone joked that we'd better be careful, or the name would stick....

I'll gladly take credit for that! I got such a kick out of it that I named the band and called them the AGB for the first two conventions. What was so funny was that people kept poking their heads in the room of the "American Girls" only to see a bunch of smelly old guys playing music. The looks on their faces were hilarious!

In fact, I do have enough strap-on keyboards for... about 12 people. I own almost every model ever made. I'm going to clean them all up someday and see if I can get the Rock and Roll museum in Cleveland to exhibit them.

I'm hopeing I can get my son to come with me (if I drive) he plays guitar, trombone, trumpet, a tiny (one song) bit of keyboard and sings. He got a $3,000 a year scholarship for his music audtion (plus $4,000 a year for academics) at Eastern University in PA where he'll be majoring in music education next year.
