So as not to make people paranoid, Google doesn't track your IP, browsing behavior.... or whatever you mean by "google account etc". That's called spyware, and Google isn't spyware. I'm the one who set up and ran Google AdSense on THIS SITE for years. I know how it works.... "Optimized results" are served up all time to people that use Google when they are logged in to their Google account. Some people see it as spyware, some people see it as big brother, some people see it as nothing to worry about. |

But, all that is besides the point. The Google AdSense system -- the ads you see at the bottom of this site and all over the place on other sites -- are based on page content and have nothing to do with you personally. On the AdSense set-up site, an account holder (like the current owners of churchmedia.net) can flag certain advertisers to never show up on their site. This is both for competitors and unwanted sites like porn or "get your minister's license online" sites. When running this site I had to constantly add unwanted sites to my ad filter. That's all I was pointing out, while making a joke about it. I did (jokingly) consider a dating service for churchmedia.net a few years ago because we had a lot of youngsters back then. That's what brought up the memory.... and the post. If nothing else, maybe people will be more educated about how Google's ads works. | To be technically accurate, we are talking about AdSense not AdWords. That said: https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...n&answer=18619 |

| It's too bad they don't have KEYWORD blocking, but you still have to keep up with stuff like this. People have been requesting keyword blocking for years. For now you should add that site to your filter list. It's a pain to do it site by site, but it's worth it for reputation's sake since people might think YOU (danroth) are advertising a dating service, which is another misconception about AdSense. I spent time weeding out most of them, but when one is discovered it only takes three minutes to add it to your site-blocking filter for AdSense. |
