Google ad's are targeted based on what they know about you from tracking you IP address, browsing behavior, and google account etc....I guess the google computer has decided that your single, and need help (just kidding) although google adds have been known to be completely of, or scarily accurate.

VERY WRONG! Google AdWords are based on taking the info on the website's page and pulling up ads based on what it finds. If it can't find anything fast enough or relevant enough, it pulls a random ad. That page just said there were no new posts, so it pulled up a random ad that happened to be a dating (most likely porn) site.

So as not to make people paranoid, Google doesn't track your IP, browsing behavior.... or whatever you mean by "google account etc". That's called spyware, and Google isn't spyware.

I'm the one who set up and ran Google AdSense on THIS SITE for years. I know how it works....

False

"Optimized results" are served up all time to people that use Google when they are logged in to their Google account. Some people see it as spyware, some people see it as big brother, some people see it as nothing to worry about.

Optimized search results.... maybe.... I've never heard about that so I'd need to see a link. And if you would have to be logged into your Google account, then that negates a lot of people. And not everyone uses Goggle (BING!). Google DOES keep track of your search/browsing history if you are logged in to your Google account, but you can turn that off. They don't track cookies beyond their site -- other sites can track cookies.... and that can be turned off also in your browser settings.

But, all that is besides the point. The Google AdSense system -- the ads you see at the bottom of this site and all over the place on other sites -- are based on page content and have nothing to do with you personally. On the AdSense set-up site, an account holder (like the current owners of churchmedia.net) can flag certain advertisers to never show up on their site. This is both for competitors and unwanted sites like porn or "get your minister's license online" sites. When running this site I had to constantly add unwanted sites to my ad filter. That's all I was pointing out, while making a joke about it.

I did (jokingly) consider a dating service for churchmedia.net a few years ago because we had a lot of youngsters back then. That's what brought up the memory.... and the post. If nothing else, maybe people will be more educated about how Google's ads works.

To be technically accurate, we are talking about AdSense not AdWords.

It's too bad they don't have KEYWORD blocking, but you still have to keep up with stuff like this. People have been requesting keyword blocking for years. For now you should add that site to your filter list. It's a pain to do it site by site, but it's worth it for reputation's sake since people might think YOU (danroth) are advertising a dating service, which is another misconception about AdSense. I spent time weeding out most of them, but when one is discovered it only takes three minutes to add it to your site-blocking filter for AdSense.

Cool. I think I heard on the radio that it bases your matches on 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 10582097494459230781640628620899862803482534211706 79821480865132823066470938446095505822317253594081 28481117450284102701938521105559644622948954930381 96442881097566593344612847564823378678316527120190 91456485669234603486104543266482133936072602491412 73724587006606315588174881520920962829254091715364 36789259036001133053054882046652138414695194151160 9... levels of compatibility!
