MXC JAM 2009!

As many of you know, we recently added several thousand images from the MXC2 into the MXC, causing a big jump in the number of images available.

However, during that process several hundred images were accidentally lost.

So, our response is... MXC JAM 2009

We're giving out free PRO Membership days for uploading missing images!

We want to start by allowing the people who initially uploaded the images to upload them again and gain credit.
But, eventually, everyone will be able to earn free days by uploading missing images.

To get started, and for more details, please look for "MXC JAM FTP INSTRUCTIONS" under the "Browse Media" pull-down menu.

(You don't have to have a current PRO membership to participate!)

well, I've gotten 9 of the 11 on my list-just have to find my backup stash for the older two.

Let me know if/when you need some of the others, too!

Do you have an idea as to when you will start allowing non-pro members to upload or will there be an official announcement made?

non-pro members can already upload now.

what I'm doing right now, however, is asking people to only upload their own deleted works - not other people's deleted works

Thanks to everybody who has uploaded - and those who haven't, please do!

I have to beg the forgiveness of those who have uploaded already. Unfortunately, getting everything I need to get done before my surgery tomorrow is taking more time and (especially) energy than I thought, and I won't be able to credit you with your bonus days today... however, I will do it as soon as I can (perhaps even while I'm stuck at home recovering).

Incidentally - a little more detail on the backup failures:

The primary backup drive died because of "a power spike of some sort that caused your PCB to fail, and ultimately led to a failure of the read/write heads". [PCB here means "Printed Circuit Board"] Also, "the pre-amp on the HDA (Head Disk
Assembly) was also blown, which is a very rare problem."

I also discovered myself the reason why the secondary backup was incomplete, despite the drive being good. I happened to notice that the drive, which was purchased preformatted, had a FAT32 file system! (I had never thought to check.) When it ran into files that were bigger than the maximum 4GB filesize, not only wouldn't it copy them, but it would kill that particular branch of the backup tree - which is what led to only a partial backup.

When I click the menu to go to the "MXC Jam FTP Instructions" I get page not found.

But I guess you're under the knife right now, so this can wait until you're back in the saddle again.

I pray all goes well with you today!

Thanks for the reminder that I still have a couple of pics I need to find the originals for and upload them!
