There seems to be an outbreak in the last few weeks of people violating these rules, particularly in regards to self-promotion. Hopefully this stems from not knowing the rule, so please review it and abide by it.

Maybe it might make sense to address those individuals directly who could very well be oblivious to the fact that they are indeed violating the rule.

In my organization, I often encounter people who abuse the privilage of the captive audience thinking that they are doing a humanitarian service. As much as I clearly announce that we meet for the purpose of doing organizational business ONLY, I sometimes have to go tp an individual to show him the error of his ways.

That's exactly what happens when we notice or when it's drawn to our attention.

I was 'slapped' on the had once shortly after I joined. Tim and I both, however, lost our corroborating emails discussing permission. Then, just before Tim sold, he slapped again. No big deal.
It seems to be the newer members the most.

i think the hard economic times are causing people to be "creative" in drumming up new business... but that being said can I ask a a question?

several times this weeks I've gotten a notice of a reported post, but they have been for siggy violations. As a mod I can't do anything about changing somebodies siggy, but should I turn around and forward that email to Dan or Phil, or have you already seen the same reported post that I have? I think you are sent the same email I get, but in the email it says...

Our hosts and mods are only human.
I think I've been reporting at least 2 a day. When it's new members I know form other forums, I PM gentle reminders to read the Announcements in the News section. One of them indicated he wouldn't change the commercial URL and reference in his signature because he felt the need to make sure people knew what side of the issue he's coming from.
I sort of agree, but as Mark indicated, economic times are rough. I could name 2 db firms in Michigan that have closed up shop, and another than has severely down-sized. I am grateful for any and all of the business CMN has brought me and I do my best to keep the professional references out of my posts.

Mark, I'll say it a little different than Phil did.

You can PM the person and ask them to make the change. We should probably set up a standard "form letter" you can send to people.

If they don't change it within a day, let us know about it, so we can change it.
