Cool [New Feature] Custom Home Page

I finally got around to writing a modification that I've had in mind for a few months. This hack allows you to set your own CMN home page. So when you come to CMN if you want it to go straight to the MXC -- no problem! Any page in all of CMN can be your home page and you can change it as many times as you like just by clicking the little house up in the left hand corner. It only works if you are logged in -- and you get this nice little greeting when you come to the site.

Have fun!

EDIT: I fixed a little bug and now ANY page can be your CMN homepage!

Oh, come on! Doesn't anyone think this is cool? Maybe you don't get it. Clicking the little house doesn't make that page your home page for your BROWSER, it makes it your home page for CMN. See? You can start off on your profile page -- or link land -- or the arcade -- change it as many times as you want.

So -- you're reading this intense thread on which worship software is best and you have to go. Rather than coming back and trying to find the thread you click the little house. Poof! It makes that thread your CMN homepage! Then when you come back to CMN you go directly back to that page. Get it? Cool, right?

Thanks, Tim. I used this twice today, but did not get a nice little greeting - even when logged in. But great feature!

I tried doing this but couldn't get it to work, maybe I'm doing something wrong. What exactly do I click?

IE 7 v. IE 6

Hi Kathy,

I have Internet Explorer "7" and there is a little pulldown menu below the "house" icon at the top of the browser page. It allows you to set various home pages. I am currently at another computer and it only has IE 6 and the house icon does not offer this option, but the page came up immediately, so I expect Tim has programmed in something that recognizes your home page preferences from any computer - or at least I think that's what happens.

It's pretty handy anyway. Perhaps you can try going to XP Start -->Control Panel-->Internet Options and setting your home page to the CMN page you wish to return to. It is a hassle, but it works. I don't know how other browsers do this, perhaps Tim will comment. All I know is it's really handy. Thanks Tim.

I'd like to set the "Getdaily" as my home page. But I get an empty search when I try it later.

I'd like "new posts" but it does not work with it either.

Actually it's the house on the left side of the screen -- no drop-down (everyone should have it). There's a picture attached to know exactly where to click .

Yeah, I want those too. Unfortunately those are searches and they are dynamic, not static. But all I have to do is create a couple of hard links. Until I put the links on the site, you can use these:

Just click on one of those and your start page is set!
