From One To Another & Beyond

I am in hopes this is the correct form for my question. We currently operate to separate facilities and would like to stream live our services from one to the other. I am trying to figure out the best way to do so. we would be reproducing the service on a projection system in our second facility

From my understanding there are streaming services available where I would just take a camera, and connected to a computer which would then take the signal to the streaming site.I am not sure if this is the correct method or if it would even work properly.

We would also like to possibly make it available via our website. This I am assuming is exactly what the streaming service would be for?

I am in hopes that other people on this forum are also doing what I am attempting to do in their houses. Any input is highly appreciated as I would like to get this going as soon as possible.

thank you in advance.

JoeyUnity,

When you encode video and audio for distribution on the web the viewer sees the content via one of two means. (1) via a streaming service, or (2) via Video on Demand or VOD. A stream is when the content is being sent from a host to a recipient live, or near live. VOD is when the video audio is already encoded and available on a server for anyone to watch at any time, regardless of when the church service occurred live. In most cases the live stream or on-demand VOD are hosted through a CDN or contend delivery network which is uniquely suited to handle the requirements of multiple viewers viewing the content.

In your case it sounds like you are attempting to stream from only one point to one point … and at the destination point the streamed or VOD content will be projected.
In my experience there is currently no solution appropriate for streaming a live service from one location to another and (key factor next) projecting the image to a group of people large enough to require a projector and who will need to watch this content for an entire sermon.

If the services are delayed by a substantial amount of time allowing you to FTP the entire sermon beforehand, or VOD the sermon allowing a sizeable buffer to build then the options improve … but for now live streaming is relegated to computers, phones, pads and TVs will small audience sizes.

thank you for your reply it was very informative.

It would seem to me possibly that the best way to accomplish this would be to record my services (on an HD camera preferably), upload the video content to something along the lines like a Dropbox account, then pull it onto the computer at my second facility and play at there obviously not at real-time?

Not sure my thought process is the best of solutions?
