Camera recommendation for live web broadcasting

Can someone recommend a camera that we can use for broadcasting live over the internet? We're planning on using a service...we have narrowed down to two for the broadcasting part. We just need a decent camera.

I bought a sony webbie hd from staples...but the picture is too dark.

I tried a regular logitech webcam...and the picture was lighter, but not good quality. And I couldn't zoom it.

We have a Canon HG10 that we use to video our services...but I can't figured out how to use it as a webcam. The usb only works when you download the video from the camera.

We need to go through the computer as usb if possible.

Thoughts?

What happens when you plug the camera up to the computer via USB.
Does the OS recognized the camera.

I have a Sony camera. When I plug the camera up to computer it comes up
with the Open with box. I can then choose Windows Movie Maker. etc.

If you pc recognizes the camera then the streaming software should see the camera.

Also your camera has usb, Composite and HDMI outputs.

you could get an inexpensive video in card from Hauppage or others.

When I plug it in on camera mode, nothing happens. It doesn't recognize it at all.
When I change it over to play mode, it kicks right in and works great.

We're trying to do this through a laptop if we can. We already have one pc running...that does all our video to our projector and tv monitors throughout the building.

That's why I'm trying to stay with usb if I can.

You could get a USB video capture device, and send the composite signal from your camera, and a proper audio mixer from your mixer (as opposed to the cameras mic) into that.

Can you recommend a usb capture device that works well that will allow me to use it as a pass-through?

I can't recommend any, as I don't tend to use USB/Consumer grade gear for video, but hopefully someone else can, or a google search or a visit to a local electronics store should yeild some results.

As far as pass-thru is concerned, I would recommend getting an active splitter/VDA as opposed to using a pass-thru, as pass thrus tend to de-grade the video quality.
