Well, not all great ideas yield great results. The challenge that we intended for the congregation with the James series did not result in a single callback that we are aware of. We had hoped that some one would try something new and have an experience that they would share with the rest of us. This is a great time to be a volunteer rather than a staff member at my church. After a couple of years of congregational upheaval with several key members leaving, the drop in church income finally hit the staff. Several people are being laid off (or would be if they didn't leave on their own) or having their salaries cut. I am constantly praying that we hit the low point and turn around. We are launching into a series on James for Lent. The theme phrase is "Are We There Yet?" We want to challenge folks to move to showing their faith through what they do. James is loaded with suggestions for how one can act out their faith.
