Trouble Right Here in River City

Posted Monday, February 4th, 2008 at 01:06 PM by Smob
This is a great time to be a volunteer rather than a staff member at my church. After a couple of years of congregational upheaval with several key members leaving, the drop in church income finally hit the staff. Several people are being laid off (or would be if they didn't leave on their own) or having their salaries cut. I am constantly praying that we hit the low point and turn around. We have a mission to reach people with the message of Christ. It is certainly challenging to do so in the current...

Starting something new

Posted Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 at 10:52 AM by Smob
We are launching into a series on James for Lent. The theme phrase is "Are We There Yet?" We want to challenge folks to move to showing their faith through what they do. James is loaded with suggestions for how one can act out their faith.

I have a theme picture for the series that I will overlay key verses for each week. The idea of this image is to make people think of what more they could do to move further along their path towards the ways of Christ.Click image for larger version

Transparent Layers

Posted Monday, January 28th, 2008 at 01:43 PM by dmot
I would just like to say that although I love MediaShout I wish it had the ability to handle transparent layers. While they are at it I would appreciate multiple foreground layers (is that an oxymoron - I mean you can only have one foreground can't you?) too. Oh well, I should be happy with what I've got.

New Blogger

Posted Friday, January 25th, 2008 at 09:37 AM by clp
I discovered The Church Media Community the other day and saw some things that could really help me, as a pastor of a fairly small church. I am not very savy when it comes to media and tech stuff, but I think I am going to have to learn, because I don't have very many folks who can help.

If anyone out there has advise for me in the following areas, I would be greatful (remember, our church is around 170):

1. videography -- what is a simple way to implement custom videography...

Lousy Memory

Posted Monday, January 21st, 2008 at 08:42 AM by dmot
I pastor a small church and at the present time I also prepare all of the media for Sunday. It is only a fraction of my job, though, and I keep forgetting procedures on things that I don't do too often. I guess that's what happens when you get old.

I hate having to re-learn something I've already done. I should get in the practice of writing a manual for every procedure I do but I know I won't take the time to do that. I'll just keep muddling along, learning things over and over again....
