Hello from a small town in Illinois

Hi, new to the forum. I'm the pastor of a small church in a small town in Illinois. I've been involved in media ministry as a hobby for many years. I don't have any staff at my church, so if I want to make a video or a website for something, I do it myself

So I've made the church website and a few videos for various things in the church. I'm definitely not the best at it, but it's fun!

I hope to learn from you all and be able to contribute something to the community.

It must be quite rewarding knowing that all aspects of the message you are trying to
get across to your congregation is being presented. Sometimes when volunteers
perform a task and it does not meet your expectations it is hard to tell them what
was wrong. But one should not be the hand and the foot of the body. Be creative
and have fun but be mindful that there may be talented members in your flock that
need to be involved and may be hard to delegate the fun to them. Until then, enjoy
and we want to learn from you!

Thanks for the reminder, rcourtney. There are a few people in the church who are probably capable of taking on some of what I'm doing with recording sermons and playing videos and such. And maybe once the fun aspect wears off on my end, I'll hand it off to them

But seriously, I'm at a very small church right now and most of the people able to do this kind of thing already have a full plate. So I'm not stealing anyone else's involvement. At this point, I'm merely adding an element that has yet to be explored in our church, and I think will prove to be beneficial for the edification of the body.

God bless!

BroChris
Hello and welcome to another Illinoian. I am also a new member here as well as living in Illinois (Small town? 20k) I run sound and create opening videos for our contemporary service.

I am so glad I found this site and am just beginning to explore all it has to offer.

I would also recommend the forums at the videomaker magazine site when you need advice on making video. Their focus is on making video and the technical aspects. For the most part the forum is very profesional and they can offer a lot of insights for making good video.

I live in Nokomis, which has a population of 2,700. It's about an hour south of Decatur. What part of Illinois are you in?
