DubPlate - Live to disc on the cheap

Hey guys, just stumbled on this and thought I'd share. It's an app called DubPlate on the mac app store. It records live audio directly to a disc, then when you finish, it takes a minute or two to finalize. It doesn't really have any tweaking or adjustment features, but it's only $10, alot cheaper than any standalone hardware you could find out there.

I haven't been able to try it on a full sermon yet, but I recorded around 5-10 minutes with it, and it took around 1 minute when I stopped recording to eject the disc. So I'm not sure if that'd be the same for a longer recording, or longer, but I can let you guys know this Sunday how it turns out.

There may be better software out there for this feature, but I searched for weeks and couldn't find any. But please, if you know of any, let me know.

The reason you could not find any is because the patent was awarded to Clear Channel IIRC, who got a judge to patent the concept of selling recordings of concerts on the spot, not just the hardware and now the software to do it. There have been proprietary systems developed for this, on cassette and CD. Clear Channel was actively going after people doing this type of thing. It could be that the patent has expired and more people will be doing this type of thing. When I was working for a mega church here in the KC area, we developed our own system so that people could immediately go to the bookstore and download the file to their iPod. CD sales went into the toilet.
