| Hi Bobby, With the LS9 being a digital desk - it is not just a simple matter of hooking cables up to an input and seeing what happens. The desk is programmed to perform in a certain way. You say this is a recent addition to the Church. Who actually installed it? The LS9 would arrive in a preset condition from the Yamaha factory (the default). This default configuration will work for some of the simple applications but (to get the most out of the system and match the required use within the Church) the installer would generally make changes. The installer should have documented all of these changes for you. Billy's suggestions are good ones to start with though. As he says, echo is a good indication of internal effects being configured or feedback happening somewhere. Dave |

| Sounds like you did what most of us would do. - First try is a cable with a stereo 3.5 mm plug that goes to two RCA plugs (red and white). Two RCA to XLR adapters into two channels on your mixer. - If you get a buzz we would usually try a DI box between the computer and the mixer to lift the ground. That would look something like 3.5mm stereo to 2 RCA plugs. Two RCA to 1/4" adapters into the input of the two DIs. XLR cable from each DI into the mixer. There are stereo DI boxes (L&R in and L&R out) that make things cleaner and there are boxes that properly sum a stereo input to a 1 channel, mono output if your system isn't stereo or you want to use just one channel. You should test the output of the computer with some computer speakers to rule out a problem with the computer. If the problem is there fix it. If it checks out then you have a problem with the mixer and you need to dig into the channels you are using and figure out what setting is messing it up.

| Find out how your cable is wired. It should be: 1/8" tip to XLR1 pin 2 1/8" ring to XLR2 pin 2 1/8" sleeve to XLR1 pin 1 and XLR 2 pin 1 (actually, it needs only to connect to pin 1 of one of the XLRs. XLR1 pin 3 and XLR2 pin 3 can be left unconnected, or connected to pin 1. |
