Another IEM noob

Hello all, I am researching IEM systems and am finding the full blown Aviom, etc. totally out of price range. I run a full band, Drums in an iso room, bass, 1-2 keys, 1-2 electrics, acoustic and 1-5 vocals in a room that seats 200 or so. We just got a new IM8-40 channel mixer last year and are running 6 aux sends to the stage. I have been looking at the SM Pro Stage Buddy, but there doesn't seem to be too much information on that available. A setup like that would be ideal, as all I would really need is to have a generic monitor mix with some more me options for the individual musicians. I really am hoping for some 'non-ghetto' solution involving my existing 1/4 aux sends from the board. Any advice?

Make sure that there is a protective limiter in the chain somewhere (something usually found only in units made specifically for IEM use). Tthere's this: http://www.rockonaudio.com/package.php, and this: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com...ems?sku=243606

That's a lot of people to make happy with only 6 mixes. You can also use the Groups or Matrices, but these will be affected by the main mix, which likely won't make anyone happy.

It's too late now, but you'd have been better off with one of the other (older?) Yammie boards on which you can use a bus as an Aux or a Group. This would have given you more mixes.

A bit out of the box thinking but you could build or have built a SAC (Software Audio Console) system just for IEMs It would pull it's inputs from your IM8-40 direct outs and each member of your WT would have there own personal mix. Each member could have there own personal mixer (A used 10 in laptop works well for this)

I priced a system a short while ago using easily obtainable used hardware and it was under $300 per person including a control surface for each person.

A fundamental question is whether an Aviom-type system is a good fit or not. I've seen churches buy them, install them, and realize they didn't like them; I've also seen churches who have then and like them. They're often used with in-ear monitor systems, but the two don't require each other.
