| Compact monitor wedges Our church is looking at getting some new foldback speakers, (along with a new FOH system). We have a small stage, so I'm looking for low profile compact wedges, likely 8", 10" or 12". I looking for something with good sound quality. A few members of our band played a gig in front of some Nexo PS15s, and were extremely impressed with them, so something in that order of quality but smaller. The wedges are for vocals mainly. Can anyone recommend some good options for me to consider? We have amps already, but I'm interested in powered options as well, as I can re purpose the amps to another room. So far I've looked at: L Acoustics 108P RCF TT08-A EV TX1122M (passive, 45°H dispersion is a little narrow) NEXO PS8 I've heard very good things about the 108P, but don't really know much about the others. I haven't heard any of the boxes myself. Any help is appreciated! |

| I demoed an L-Acoustics PA in our building over Christmas, that came with two 108P wedges. Active 8" coax. Very small and compact. Simply amazing. We hung bi-amped 12" mains, but they gave me speaker stands to try the 108Ps as FOH. They blew our room away. Sound quality is really good, better than the older model 112xts we had for FOH. Very accurate and natural. The image on my test tracks was great. Live instruments sounded great through them. Only downside is the 100° conical dispersion, and the 30° from vertical wedge angle. It means you have sound going forward from it when used as a wedge, which in a small building like ours, muddies up the FOH. I have heard briefly the EV ZXA1, and will hopefully be able to try out a pair of those soon. |
