Newbie Choir Monitor Questions Forgive me if these questions are naive, stupid or both. Our choir is currently singing with no monitors. I'm sure it is difficult since all they can hear is what comes from the side of the house speakers (overhead mounted-big old sanctuary-high ceilings). They (choir) are 2 rows deep, slightly elevated with a knee wall in front of them and a massive pipe organ behind them. Snake runs from an older 24ch Mackie mixer to the choir. My thought is to use an aux send (back through the snake) whatever they want to a powered monitor(s) on the kheewall and let them control their own volume. Questions: Is this the right way to get a signal back to choir loft? Dangerous to give choir the volume control? Equipment recommendations? Thanks for any comments.

It varies, but most often to prerecorded media from a CD (which I control from the mixer) or an electronic keyboard also located in the choir (that runs through the mixer as well). Occasionally it's the pipe organ, but come to think of it nobody ever complains about not hearing IT!

I could mount monitors near the top (but behind) the modesty wall, and the choir is only in two rows. This way something ugly would stay hidden to the congregation, and hopefully still be useful to the choir? Anything would be better than what we have. Thanks for the ideas.
