IEM's for Bass Blayers

As a bass player I have never used IEM's before. Our church has decided to go that route. I am planning on spending some money to get the best I can get, Im just not sure what those are or what would be the best for a bass player. Westone makes a triple driver, the ES3X that I have been looking at.

Any thoughts or advice.

Thanks

Be prepared that any IEM won't give you the bass response you think you'll get. Because of the frequencies involved even the best IEMs leave you wanting. You may want to look at investing in a ButtKicker transducer which transmits the bass frequencies as vibrations that you can feel in addition to the IEM. Or look at getting headphones versus IEMs.

Yeah, what Brian said.
Your drummer may want some tactile feedback also from your bass, so be prepared.

+2 for the kicker mounted to a sheet of Baltic birch flooring. The vibration will provide great feedback to you. IEMs suck for bass and drummers. Headphones would be a step up if you cannot do the kicker. I think the kicker would actually come in cheaper than higher end closed-back cans.

If you do use phones, make sure that they are low impedance and not something like a 600ohm AKG K240, etc. These modern headphone dist systems usually do not generate the necessary swing and current to take care of those.

our guys are pretty happy with ear molds but they do cost the bucks. we simply run them from the avioms and have had no issues. we also just did away with our drum shield setup which has lead to zero complaints... thinking of asking for auto tune for a few vocalists... hey when you are on a roll...
