StageMix keeps dropping LS9 connection

I am running the monitors from onstage using an iPad, but I keep losing the signal, so the iPad is continually dropping and reestablishing the connection, or searching for the wifi signal, yet the signal wifi strength indicator on the iPad says there is plenty of signal. The wireless hub is only about 25' from the stage, so I don't get why it doesn't stay locked in.

Anyone else have this problem? Also, I have the iPad set never to sleep, so it's not that.

Thanks,
Brad

There might be interference in your wireless network. I do not have your setup, but my church does have a wireless device that overpowers our internet wifi when plugged in and it is very annoying.

Have a WiFi analyzer app on the iPad or on some other device? That might provide some useful information.

I have the same thing at home with my Wifi. Good signal strength - but the link keeps 'dropping'. I replaced the WiFi with a powerline modem and all of my problems went away.

I setup a system for my wife at the charity where she works. The distance between the PC and the Wifi box is longer than the recommended maximum - and it travels through multiple walls and floors - and it is as solid as a rock....

One of my friends had a problem at their Church with WiFi. I recommended they place the WiFi router on the ceiling and ETHERNET cable back to the telephone socket. Whereas before (when the router was on a table) the link kept dropping out - it now seems pretty solid.

Can you move the WiFi hub closer to the stage to see if the problems can be reduced/eliminated by shortening the distance?

Dave

I'm downloading a analyzer right now. I'll give that a try tonight and see if there is something going on with the signal.

I have already moved the hub as close as I can get to the stage, so we'll try the analyzer first and see if that helps.

Thanks,
Brad

If your router is a 2.4 ghz then it is an interference issue, as all of our personal devices are on the 2.4 ghz and 700 MHz, mainly. 2.4 ghz is Bluetooth, and 700mhz is our mobile Internet (the cell phone companies have half the 700 bandwidth, they gave a local church a "friendly" reminder to stop using their older wireless kits).

To get rid of the dropping issue, get a 5ghz wireless router. Presonus explains this in their webinar on their iPad app set up.

Yes, that is what we wound up doing, and the problem was resolved.

Thanks,
Brad

Make sure you set the router so that it's not seen by other devices, so it's not being talked to by every smartphone that walks in the door (a problem I may have run into lately).
