New Digital Mixer: Yamaha LS9

Yamaha has announced the little brother to the M7CL, the LS9

From what I've heard online it comes in 2 frame sizes (16 channel $6k/ 32 channel $11k list). It has a lot of features similar to the M7CL:
-2 dynamics / channel
-4 band parametric EQ
-4 Graphic EQ (8 if you use them a flex 15)
-4 efx processors
-16 mix/ 8 matrix/ 16 omnioutputs

Somethings that the M7CL doesn't have:
-Play and record audio off a USB stick
-Expandable to 32 or 64 channels depending on frame size.

What it lacks from the M7CL:
-Lack of Centralogic system.
-Less knobs for direct control (Mix/Matrix sends/ EQ/ HPF. The LS9
looks to have buttons where the M7 has knobs. This takes an extra step
to make a change.
-Stereo Ins are knobs not faders
-12 user buttons instead of 16
-No touchscreen
-No meter bridge option
-Lack of DCAs (DCAs are a fader that remotely and proportionally
controls the level of every channel described to it. When you lower
your drum DCA the volume of post fader sends is lowered as well. In a
aux-feed sub setup this keeps the bass level proportionate to the mix.

Overall I think it looks very sweet. We have a M7CL-48 and would love to have something like a LS9-32 in a couple other venues on our campus. I bet sales of the Mackie TT24 are going to go down unless they slash their prices.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have a estimated time on shipping? Wow i might have to be an early adopter of this console. Now I just have to figure out which venue to put it in. I did notice that it had a custom fader page that seemed from the discription to function like DCA's. I don't know if it will be more like o1v96 DCA's or M7 up DCA's. I guess we'll see. I think with all of the advancements and price drop i can get over the nontouchscreen.

Good gravy. I had started to seriously look at the TT24 and I'm not known for being a Mackie fan. But now that they're releasing this, so much for a Mackie. I could plug my mp3 player straight into that bugger and play them without having to turn it on. That thing is really nice looking. Any idea on when those will go on the market.

I was just passing on what I saw on the internet. I have no idea on a ship date. I'll ask one of my a/v dealers to see if they know anything.

I just got the pricing from one of my vendors and the LS9-32 will be going for $7,920 from them. They said they will be shipping around the middle of December. Oh this is so my next console.

Just remember that MAP is $7199 and this is what you will see if you just surf for price on the TT24. You have to call to get a better price.

I don't have the pricing but you can call Andrew Solin at Pro Acoustics and get a price. Or just get a quote from their website.

I don't know if it will happen with this board, but Yamaha dropped the price of the M7 shortly after it was introduced. Actually the dropped the minimum amount a reseller could sell it for and stay a yamaha distributor. I know the M7CL-48 had a list of $24k but we got ours for $17k. A good dealer should get you a good price.
