Hello. What's the best approach to editing an AVI file that has background talking and chatter so we can hear the person in front of the camera/video talking? The AVI file is attached as a representative example... ![]()

Yeah - audio is best when well thought out and planned for. Even then, in a public environment, you can't expect things to be anywhere near perfect. My only advice isn't for the novice... Adobe's Soundbooth has the cool process of editing a sound file visibly, using masking tools on a color spectrum. It's very easy to go astray with this, but once you get the hang of it, you'd be amazed at the things you can enhance and/or remove: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-soun...pairing-audio/ Check out about 3:10 into the clip.

The recording was made on a church camera that records video. I like the adobe application and seeing how one could remove stuff, which helped me to understand the best thing to do is definitely ensure more emphasis is placed on the recording in the environment. Other video of this camera actually turned out pretty good at longer distances as noted in the attached file of a meeting. So with specific interviews, they'll need to watch the environment and act accordingly by isolating to a quiet area/room away from ambient noise. ![]()
