How can one determine if they are "worth getting" or comment on them without knowing anything about the intended use or your goals and expectations? It's a bit like asking whether a Smart car is worth getting without indicating if you are focusing on mileage or might be wanting to haul a soccer team, transport sheets of plywood or autocross on weekends, any of which might factor in the responses. So anything you can offer about the use or expectations might help.

given past experience with samson products, as well as the low price for a powered speaker, I doubt they would be worth buying for any use.

If I were looking for an 8" powered speaker, I'd probably look at the QSC K8. I've used it, and it sounds pretty good. At $700, to me - it's a well priced product... good performance for the money.

I can't imagine that a $200 samson is going to sound like anywhere close to decent.

When someone asks about a specific product there is usually some reason(s) (price, performance, size, availability, recommendation by someone, review they read, etc.) that they are asking about that product in particular. Without an understanding of the related reasons or the intended use about all I can offer is that to be able to get the most use from a multipurpose speaker in the widest range of applications possible, it would be common to look for a box with more than an 8" woofer and a 113dB at 1m maximum overall output. There are certainly some applications where it may work fine, but I have no idea how they may relate to your potential applications.

I haven't heard them, for general use, I would think probably no, a couple of reasons why:

8" is a little on the small side, unless you have a big honkin' sub, to finish the job.

They are made of plastic and the connections are not inset, that makes them too fragile for bouncing around in the back of a truck, without being in some kind of road case.

It doesn't say where they are designed or made. The best speakers come from Britain, Canada, The US. Speakers made in any of these countries are proud to wear the made in label for those countries.

Wait now...we cannot mix "the best" with Samson, nor can we write off any speaker made in China. There are some very good products made in China....for JBL, QSC, Peavey, etc, etc. It does not have to be made outside of China to be good.

That said, this piece in question is what it is. It was not designed to be good. It was designed to sell for a certain price point, as an alternative to other manufacturers. You really cannot expect it to be a high performance piece, or for parts to be around in two years or so. It is disposable.
