Speaker Choice

Hi All

I need some help with what set of speakers to purchase. There is a special happening and nows the perfect time to get them..

HK Audio PR-015A
Yamaha MSR400
Mackie TH-15A
Wharfdale Titan 12D

All of the above are powered speakers. Basically they will be replacing our current non-powered speakers in my church.

They will be used together with 2x 500W Bass Bins running on a Crown XTI4000

im hoping to mount them on the roof and tilting them straight towards the congregation, our church is about 5000m3 in a more rectangluar shape

im looking for something clean for vocals and clarity..when the speaker speaks, the general acoustics of the hall is very reverby.. still working on some sound proofing and we have seating for 250-300 people

we have windows on the side covered with curtains, we have wooden floors and the sound bounces to the back chalkboard wall

Thanks All
Warren

You plan to fly the speakers, which eliminates some of the models noted as they have no flying provisions and are not intended to be flown. You have some unknown existing subwoofers so you probably don't need the low frequency response of some of those models and might be able to get the samne or better overall system performance out of smaller and perhaps less expensive options. And you want clean vocals for 250-300 people in a very 'live' room, so an appropriate pattern and pattern control from the speaker are probably important, which may make some or all of the models noted less than ideal. You are also switching from unpowered to powered speakers, thus having to address the related power.

But perhaps the biggest factor is what are the existing speakers and what about the current speaker system or its performance are you hoping or expecting to change?

As the saying goes, the wrong product at a great price is still the wrong product.

So I took the Mackie TH-15A and extended the pole. sounds much better than our old passive wharfdale LIX C-15
