I have 4 Renkus Heinz TRC61Ks that we use as front fills that emit a very loud hiss when nothing is playing through them. The signal chain is Matrix Out >>> 31 Band EQ >>> DSP (Delay/PEQ) >>> QSC CMX 302 >>> Speakers. The console feeding them is a Soundcraft K2 and the matrix has just the mono bus in it.
What I've tried to do is:
1) Bypass DSP
2) Bypass EQ
3) Bypass both DSP & EQ
I did plug them into our monitor amp for our broadcast monitors, and they didn't emit any noise when no signal was present on our broadcast console.
The hiss seems to come directly out of matrix out gain. When nothing is running through the matrix but the volume is turned halfway, hiss comes out. When nothing is running through and the volume is all the way off, no hiss happens.
Any idea where to troubleshoot this?

Have you tried one of the other three matrix outs?
Have you tried an aux send?
It sounds as if it's an internal issue on the K2.
