I was looking at EAW SB850Z, Peavey VR218 and Yorkville TX9. We have seating capacity for about 1500 people. I don't think we would rarely push a lot of power through to the subs currently but we're looking at going from two blended services to a traditional and contemporary service. Also, we do hire out bands about twice a year so rider friendliness would be great which is why I'm kinda hesitant towards the VR218.
The subs will be going under a new stage extension so I guess no one would really know what subs they actually are but still.
Any ideas or comments? |
How many TRC121s and what kind of levels do you normally run? How big is the room? How much room is there for the sub(s)?
1,500 people suggests a fairly large room and a distributed system suggests fairly even levels throughout the listener area. Combine those with subs under the stage and you seem to have the potential for both having a significantly differing overall response in different portions of the listener area and having the people up front get blown out by the subs in order to have good levels from them at the rear. We would need to know more about the specifics but you might want to consider if distributed smaller subs or flown subs are feasible and might help in these aspects.
As far as rider acceptability, I would guess that the mono distributed R-H TRC system you already have might often be more of a rider issue than a Peavey VRX sub. That is not a negative commentary on your existing system, rather that distributed mono systems are often automatically questioned and the Renkus TRC boxes are not that well known a 'name' to where I can see that potentially being an issue for many tech riders.
