Boombox as FM remote speaker So, I was looking at a boombox today, and I had a thought. I have a Telex soundmate (aar-10, channel L, 75.700 mhz) fm transmitter for hearing assistance...and I got to thinking, "why not modify a boombox to receive that frequency and use it as a remote speaker?". I'm sure I've heard of radios having such a modification (something about spreading a coil further apart), although I may be remembering an am channel. Can anyone theorize if this is possible? thanks.

Sorry if I wasn't clear here. I was thinking that the fm reciever in the boombox could perhaps be modified to receive the locally broadcast sermon in the 75mhz band. (I actually have one speaker set up at the moment using the method you mentioned of used a receiver pack and outputting to a speaker.) Any thoughts welcome

Alrighty then, thanks for the input. Bloody shame though. Boomboxes have everything one would need. battery powered, fm reciever, speakers. I've seen some old ones with the tuning knobs at garage sales and such if there is hope they can be used. This leads me to a slightly broader question. Can anyone point me to a cheap radio capable of receiving the 75hz broadcast from my telex soundmate? The prices of the soundmate branded receivers are insane. I'm sure some Chinese company must make something that could be pressed into service. The objective here being to have a few portable area-speakers so that, for example, if a sunday school class goes outside they can still hear a sermon.
