Thanks but I believe I'm going to go in a different direction than the LS608.

Well, after my initial post and doing some investigating on my own I do find that our Peavy has the potential to put out a good bit of sound but you can't push it because it rattles bad. This is to be expected I guess from a sub that was made in the 90's. So to answer your question I'm looking for a sub that can perform just as good if not better than our Peavey subcompact. I originally said it had to perform a lot better but I believe the placement of the sub as well as being able to push it without the rattles will makeup for any of the shortcomings we're receiving with this sub. Another note, this sub is located on the back wall of our stage behind all of the musicians due to its size. Second, it has to be more compact as far as height/width. I'm not really worried much about the depth because a lot of the compact subs have more depth than they do height. Our stage is very small and mounting the sub within the stage is not an option. So, it needs to have a small footprint to be placed somewhere on stage toward the front without being an eye sore. I really like the looks and reviews on the JBL MRX518S but I've also been looking at the Yorkville LS700P. So, hopefully that answers your questions. Good output, compact, easy on the eyes.

I don't think it rattles because it was made in the 90s, I think it rattles because it is worn out or broken. There might be a loose joint or brace in the cabinet, some screws may be loose, the magnet-to-basket bolts may be loose, or it may just be time for a replacement basket.

Sorry. That's kind of what I mean't. Because of its use since the 90's and we bought it used from a guy in our church many moons ago. It's time for another sub!

Were you saying that the crossover was plugged into the subgroup out and the mid and high outputs were not being used?
You may want to try running the main output into the crossover, and hook the amps for your mains AND subs into the appropriate outputs on the crossover... just to see if you like that setup better than the subgroup setup. You might notice more clarity this way (getting rid of most of the lows in the mains) However, its gonna depend on what other signal processing you have and how everything else is hooked up. Is there any processing between the mixer and the amp for the mains?

Yes. The subgroup was representing our sub and we were only using the low output on the crossover before feeding our amp. We do have an EQ feeding our mains. I'm thinking about trying this set up and utilizing the crossover for the mid and highs.
