| for this space, what speakers? because of the way my questions tend to wander and turn into projects, I hope you won't mind my posting this new question to get very specific feedback on one aspect of my larger project. the question here is what speakers would work best in my space. the dimensions, materials, and pictures below should give a fairly good idea of what i'm working with. what general type of speakers would be best where should they be located what brand or model of speaker how would they be wired together what size and type of amp would power them basically any info you think would be helpful. thanks in advance. the measurements are all on this picture... http://imgur.com/ZUygW.png Some Photos ... looking southwest in overflow http://www.picstation.net/show-image...dc7f993a76664a looking south in overflow http://www.picstation.net/show-image...149088e38a4f44 looking northwest in overflow http://www.picstation.net/show-image...13bea8c73b9494 looking northeast from southwest corner of sanctuary http://www.picstation.net/show-image...ef3f4cef5b5315 looking southwest from corner of stage http://www.picstation.net/show-image...79cafbf0fbb1cc I forgot to take some with the partition closed. the materials in the room are mostly cement board, i was surprised to discover. the north (stage), east (overflow) and west walls are all cement board. the north and south walls in the overflow and the south wall of the sanctuary are drywall. the ceiling panels are hard to say, i believe it could be classed as cement board. the floor of the overflow is tile, as is the floor in the sanctuary between pews. the rest of the sanctuary is carpeted. the front 3-5 pews are rarely used. |

| Well, having increased the volume in the pews to an acceptable level, I'm going to pretty much sideline this project. I will advice the board that this is as good as this system can get without spending $$$. I may give the speakers a try at one more location, two flown over the first pew on each side. given the bose 802 plots, and the cardioid pattern mic locations (pulpit and lectern), the feedback should be minimal while moving the speakers nearer to the audience. also, tilting the speakers down should help with the flutter echo and resonance. My thanks to the many on this forum who have helped me with this project. I've learned a lot. God Bless. |

| If you REALLY want to know ... get someone to do an EASE model of your room. You can then basically plug in just about any speaker into the model and you will see how it will perform in your room. It's not just about getting enough volume but about getting enough articulation so the sound can be understood and not just heard. The cheapest way to do this is to buy what you need to do the job ... and get it right the first time so you don't end up re-buying and re-buying. Most churches end up buying about 3 times ![]()
