The mains are as high as they can go. the back wall is a little difficult because it isn't a solid wall. There is a 15'x7' opening that leads to a coffeeshop. Probably doesn't help the acoustics any. I don't have a pic right now.

That coffee shop could be part of the problem, especially if it's a foyer or atrium type space, which can act as a natural amplifier, the issue becomes is that there can be a quite long delay, between the time the sound heads out there and it comes back, sometimes as long as 3-4 seconds. It then sounds uneven, because you hear the sound and then the delay which combines with the next sound. If that is the problem though, the only solution is some doors that can be kept closed during the service.

I think you are right about the coffee shop. Here are some more pictures I took today.

Taken from the front edge of the stage looking back:

The best response I could get out of it was centered like this:

But that is in the way. I left today with it sitting to the right next to the wall on the front edge of the stage. The result is alright but the chairs on the front right are being blasted. I think a second sub on the front left would help. And I wouldn't have to drive them as hard. But that's not going to happen any time soon...budget priorities

Run one channel into a mono channel and see what you get. Just to rule out a out of phase cable. It is a long shot your sub should do almost nothing if it is an out of phase cable.

In my home room of 17x26x8, with the system shooting the long way, the bass is dead in the center. Cancellations happen.
