fluffy insulation

I'm sure alot of you have read this page.

http://www.bobgolds.com/AbsorptionCoefficients.htm

It looks like Regular R19 Owens Corning insulation (paper out) has just as good LF absorption as 703. LOL one could tune the room by flipping them paper out and in as needed/

Seems like DIY panels would be dirt cheap this way.

but "tune the room" to what is the question.
Careful what you do in a public building with building codes that are enforced.
The best way to do DIY construction is to have plans drawn up and approved by the building inspector.
I doubt an inspector is going to allow that.

More help could be given with room dimensions and what the problems are.

Was thinking fire approved fabric wrapped wood frame..... I was mostly wondering why everyone immediately goes toward a rock wool or OC 703 when this would be way cheaper..... The R19 seems fairly even handed all the way down to 125

On the absorption aspect, what thicknesses are you comparing? I'm guessing it might be something like 6" thick batts and 3" thick 703. I understand the cost comparison but I usually have trouble getting people to accept 2" thick panels much less 6"+ thick panels.

Also, try putting batts in a frame and seeing what happens over time. Unless they are tightly friction fit, which may mean intermediate members in the frame, or somehow adhered to a backing then batts tend to sag and bunch over time.

The fire rating is an important point to understand as using appropriately rated fabric does not make the assembly rated. In fact, even if every component is rated that does not mean that the assembly has been tested or rated.

Good point. Fire rating aside. The 703 barely needs any reinforcement. I was looking at the 6.25" R19.

sorry I didn't ask more clearly, what are you attempting to correct with the room? what are the symptoms?
Soft stuff isn't always the answer.

I am starting with broadband absorption but not too much. I dont want to expose major LF problems by using a material with no LF correction. I was more interested in a general sense of why people favor a 703 like product to a traditional insulation. I was surprised to see the same LF absorption could be accomplished with this type of material. The nice part is being able to buy the stuff at HD etc.
