I really like this idea (though I cringe at the thought of "barbecuing" a steak*). You could show the recipient of the steak munching on a big bucket of popcorn and bags of potato chips, and use body language to show that they are too full to appreciate the steak.
* Regional differences: Down here, barbecuing involves pork and hours of slow cooking and basting with sauce. Other folks use the term for any outdoor grilling.
