Once you have the computer model in hand, you need quotes, you want all quotes, installed with all taxes (that you need to pay) and incidentals included. A proper quote has everything broken out, and will tell you what is included.
One thing you need to do, take your computer model, and go visit your town/city building inspector, to see if you need any permits. This is a test of the contractor, if the city building inspector says you need a permit and the contractor says you don't, that tells you to pick a different contractor. One thing people forget, your insurance carrier can refuse claims if work that requires a permit is carried out without one. The permit means the building inspector, inspects the work to see that it has been done properly, then signs off on it.
