We are looking at replacing our hanging AT u8531u mics with floor mics (portability and the AT's are on their last leg). We have had recommendations to go with the Heil PR30's. This seemed a bit strange for a choir mic, but the reviews of folks who have used them say they are great. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks so much
Coming late to the question, but we had to replace the same AT mics for a whole bunch of reasons. After trying several different things we settled on cardioid boundary mics (those odd-looking flat pack ones) - total of four, one on either side of the choir mounted high on the wall (roughly U-shaped loft) correctly angled to pick up the back rows and the other two flopped on the floor evenly-spaced to get the front row. With a choir loft that was designed for aesthetics and not a choir, this worked for us with good stereo balance and excellent gain (for when only half the choir shows up
). Your mileage may vary...
